The 18th Imchaba Master Memorial Nagaland Open Volleyball Trophy 2025 concluded at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex, Mokokchung, with Evergreen Club Ungma emerging as champions after defeating defending titleholders MH-10 Kohima in the final match on Friday evening.
Organised under the aegis of the Mokokchung District Volleyball Association (MDVA), the tournament featured fourteen teams from across Nagaland and was conducted in a league-cum-knockout format from October 21 to 24.
In a five-set thriller played before a capacity crowd, MH-10 Kohima began strongly, showcasing experience and coordination to claim the first two sets 25–20 and 25–22, with key contributions from captain Tongpangsunep, attacker Watinuken, and setter Rishitemjen. Their disciplined play and defensive stability, anchored by libero Chubamanen, reflected the consistency that had defined their campaign.
However, the momentum shifted in the third set as Evergreen Club Ungma mounted a spirited comeback. Driven by Bendangtemsu, Moang, and Wonglom, EGC dominated proceedings to take the set 25–16. Building on this resurgence, they displayed renewed confidence in the fourth set, edging past MH-10 25–21 to level the match at two sets apiece.
The decider proved to be an intense and dramatic conclusion to the tournament. Both teams fought point for point before play was briefly halted due to a commotion in the stands. Upon resumption, Evergreen Club Ungma held their composure to narrowly secure the final set 17–15, sealing a 3–2 victory and their maiden title.
