Dimapur, June 19 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Federation has demanded from the state government eviction of all encroachers from Intangki National Park “irrespective of tribes.” In a brief statement today, the NSF reaffirmed resolution to stand against all odds to protect and preserve the state’s natural resources. “There has been many cases of some individual, groups or agencies who offer themselves for exploration of our resources in the name of development” the NSF stated. Nagaland has very few wildlife sanctuaries and Intangki Reserved Forest being one but unfortunately, the NSF lamented, “all these years, it has become another form of battlefield for the Nagas which is disheartening point.” Every right-thinking citizen should stand to express voice against forceful occupation of lands within reserved forest areas, the NSF said while reminding that the culture of willful encroachment is against the wishes of the people. Appreciating the Government of Nagaland for issuing directives to all encroachers to refrain from encroachment, the NSF urged the state to evict all the illegal villagers irrespective of tribes inhabiting the protected area.
