Tuensang, March 25 (MExN): The Department of Environmental Science, Sao Chang College (SCC) conducted a field study to Aüching Village, Longleng, in collaboration with LEMSACHENLOK Society on March 25.
A total of 178 students, 4 SCC faculty took part in field study held under the topic, ‘Community participation in Biodiversity conservation and Livelihood enhancement.’
Team members of LEMSACHENLOK and leaders from Aüching village participated.
Speaking to the students, resource person Team Leader, LEMSACHENLOK Dr Y Nuklu Phom emphasised on the importance of sustainability in any venture.
He also highlighted the ‘MODELS’ the society employs its intervention on biodiversity conservation and livelihood enhancement measures through community involvement.
On effective community participation, Dr Phom advocated on identifying resources, managing the resources, sustaining the resources (which he calls IMS Model) that serve as strong basis for the sustainable development activities.
In a release via SSC Media Cell, the department expressed gratitude to Leaders of Aüching village and LEMSACHENLOK Team for sharing their knowledge. It further acknowledged 3rd NAP, IR 9th Coy, ITI, DEF for providing buses for the field trip.
