Ex-DMC Advisors showing resentment

The members of the dissolved advisory Board of the Dimapur Municipal Council is constraint to make the following statement for consumption of the public as its name has been tarnished which requires to be clarified.

To start with, as mentioned earlier that we had done our best not only to serve the people of the town but also to look after our employees by clearing the salary backlog of three months after we took over. On top of that, liabilities of over rupees one crore in connection with CPF, service gratuity, leave encashment etc. were cleared in time as otherwise it would have resulted in lockout of the DMC Office. It also needs to be mentioned here that the 6TH Pay Commission was implemented during our tenure in office.

All the chamber in the DMC Office were literally ransacked when we took over office  and it was during our time that the same were furnished and air conditioners were installed supported by a transformer and a generator.

However, it may sound as if the Ex-Advisors are trying to blow their own trumpet but what we are trying to point out is that after the dissolution of the Advisory Board the plight of the DMC office and its staff seems to be back to square one. Backlog of three months salary, liability in the CPF, service gratuity leave encashment etc are piling up as one person’s monopoly continues and it appears that the Govt. is unable to do anything even after the transfer order was issued and the replacement was ready to take over.

In spite of having excessive staff DMC has randomly given appointment orders to over 40 persons not considering the fact that salaries of the overstaffed DMC have not be cleared for a few months now. We fearthat the business community which is going to face the brunt of this burden. To add to the woes, the cease pool vehicles numbering two have been leased out to private parties. Thencouple with excessive staff now what is the point in giving new appointments when the entire DMC will be leased out in due course of time. It will only burden the already over stretched coffers of the DMC.

The height of power abuse was the condemning and auctioning of the two Mahindra Scorpios procured during our tenure for the Chief Advisor and the CEO respectively. The first vehicle is not even two years old and the second around one year. However defying all govt. norms the vehicles have been allotted to some favoured individuals. It is very unfortunate that when our govt. is unable to provide good road conditions and proper electricity, the civic body of our commercial hub is condemning and auctioning brand new vehicles at throw away prices. It has to be seen as to who are the fortunate beneficiaries. But what difference will it make as our govt. is in no position to do anything in this regard.

It is quite surprising that repeated write-ups in the local media about the illegal allotment of the parking lot in the shopping complex in New Market, the govt. has been sitting silent over the issue. There seems to be no concern for the hardship of the people and we want to make a fervent appeal that the issue need serious attention as officers will come and go but it is the people who are going to be the ultimate sufferers. The audacity of the concerned needs to be applauded as the parking lot behind the Millennium Market (Old Market) has not been spared and allotted to some private individuals, after the dissolution of the Advisory Board.

Considering all the factor mentioned above will the concerned agency investigating the DMC issue continue to be lopsided and come to any conclusion without touching the guilty party which even the govt. does not dare to touch.
