DIMAPUR, JANUARY 23 (MExN): The Ex-Parliamentarians Association of Nagaland (EPAN) has urged the state government to review its present stance on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 and reject the Bill out rightly in tune with the other north eastern states. This was resolved at a meeting held at Hotel Japfü, Kohima on Wednesday.
A press statement issued by EPAN president T Khongo and general secretary Medokul Spohie said any sensible Naga is aware of what can be the ramifications of the Bill when enacted as law and how it would have tremendous adverse impact on Nagaland.
The Association also refused to accept the judgment of the Supreme Court of India on Section 377 and decriminalizing of adultery. It maintained that going by the Naga customary practices and Christina ethics, extra-marital affairs or unnatural sexual activities are considered highly abominable and therefore a sin.
