Ex-Yimchunger Hoho chief refutes Zeliangrongs’ land claim

Dimapur, October 4 (MExN): A former president of the Yimchunger Hoho has refuted the claims of the Zeliangrong community in regard to the ongoing dispute related to Buesumpuikam village and Inavi village. Tsunthruba Yimchunger, former president of the Western Yimchunger Hoho asserted that the decision of the Western Sumi Hoho and Western Sumi Kukami Hoho on September 30 is “for the welfare of the general populace.”

While stating that the NSCN-IM had without any notice evicted Inavi villagers, Tsunthruba asserted that the Buesumpuikam village “was allowed to remain by the underground outfit. This is not “proper” because both Inavi and Buesumpuikam village has been granted the “same status by the Indian government” he claimed.

“Buesumpuikam village asserts that their land had been acquired in exchange with the government but is not true. It is the land of Lilen and Kuki tribe which has been claims of any government department of the aforesaid mentioned exchange is highly fictitious” he explained adding that Zeliangrong students’ union claim over Intanki Reserved Forest “is complete falsehood.”

The former Yimchunger president also asserted that Inavi village was established “back to 1995.” So to evict its villagers after a span of 13 years since its inception is highly questionable he stated. he also informed that  “altogether 23 eviction drives of the village has been carried out surpassing the rules of the government and creating a record of the highest eviction drive.”
