Kohima, September 15 (MExN): The Excise Department stationed at Khuzama Inter-State Check Gate seized 257 grams of suspected heroin drugs worth Rs 7.71 lakh on September 10 at around 3:30 p.m.
According to a press release from the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Excise (Zonal), Kohima, the duty party led by Kezhasolie Kehie, Assistant Inspector of Excise, intercepted a passenger bus bearing registration number MN01-2198 during routine checking of vehicles. Upon searching the vehicle, officials recovered 22 soap cases of “shantflower” drugs from the overhead compartment inside the bus.
“In this connection a passenger by the name Haisosap Disong 36 years of age claimed ownership of the drugs, thereby he was apprehended and a case registered U/s 21 (c) of the NDPS Act 85,” the press release stated. The case is now under active investigation, the department added.
