The operation targeted lounges and restaurants, particularly those operating in the evening hours.
During the raids, approximately 560 bottles of various brands of non-duty-paid liquor (NFL) were seized. S Phyobemo Kikon, Joint Commissioner of Excise (NC) Nagaland, Dimapur, in an update informed, “As a result of the intensive duty, most of the restaurants and lounges were found to be closed. Defaulters were penalized as per the appropriate sections of the NLTP Act.”
The raid is part of the Excise Department’s ongoing efforts to enforce the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act, which aims to curb the sale and consumption of liquor in the district, Kikon stressed.
Kikon emphasised that such operations will continue in the future and urged the public to provide information related to illicit liquor sale.
