Dimapur, May 1 (MExN): The Excise Narcotics Enforcement in its effort to check illicit trafficking of Narcotics and other Drugs has stepped up its surveillance duty at all entry and exit routes keeping strict vigil on all suspected vehicles crossing Excise Check Gates and on suspicious movements in the town.
A press release from Pitongse Sangtam, Deputy Commisioner of Excise (NC), Nagaland, informed that the department was successful in seizing the following during the month of April 2014 at various location: 107 bottles of cough syrup from Chumukedima Excise Check Gate on April 4, 150 gms of cocaine on April 11 from a parcel mail from Argentina from Old Daily Market, Dimapur, 70 kgs of ganja on April 24 near T. B. Hospital, Khuzama, 54 bottles of cough syrup from Chumukedima on April 27, and, 50 kgs of ganja from Chumukedima Excise Check Gate on April 28.
Altogether, 6 persons were arrested and booked under relevant section of NDPS Act, 1985, and Drug & Cosmetic Act, 1940. Street value of seized drugs is estimated to be around Rs. 1.54 crore.
