Dimapur, April 7 (MExN): Intensifying its effort to curb the free flow of liquor into Nagaland, the Excise Mobile Squad detected and compounded fifty five liquor offences under NLTP Act ’89 in the month of March 2014 alone. In this connection, 55 persons were arrested and 1249 bottles of assorted liquor and 77 litres of country liquor (Rohi) seized. A press release informed that the seized country liquors were destroyed on the spot and the assorted IMFL have been kept in the malkhana for future destruction.
“Insufficient manpower and lack of pool vehicles are the biggest hindrance in the implementation of liquor prohibition in Nagaland,” stated GhokihoYeptho, Superintendent of Excise Mobile Squad in the release.
