Excise department, Kohima during seizure of assorted IMFL at Khuzama inter-state check gate on September 7.
Kohima, September 9 (MExN): Excise department, Kohima has made seizures on Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) at Khuzama inter-state check gate on Saturday.
According to the Assistant Commissioner of Excise(Zonal), Kohima, Venezolu Dawhou, the check gate duty party while conducting routine checking of vehicles on September 7 at around 800 am, intercepted a truck bearing registration number ASOI -LC-4859.
On thorough checking of the vehicle, the team recovered 261 cases of assorted IMFL neatly concealed under bags or essential commodities and fertilizers boxes to avoid detection by the enforcement agencies.
The seizures include 142 cases of Budweiser Cane, 20 cases of Royal stag, 50 cases of MC Whisky, 20 cases of Magic Moments, 25 cases of Sterling Reserves and 4 broken cases.
In this connection two persons namely, Vijay Pradhan and Suraj Chetry were arrested for violation of NLTP Act 1989.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused allegedly loaded the consignment from Gawuhati and was supposed to deliver the consignment at Imphal.
The duty party was led by AIE Kezhasolie, 2 I/c Khesangmew, H/C Khrovutso, E/C Nganvang, Nyimtsemo, Mhao, Rokovikho, Kevibuo and L/C Rose.
