Dimapur, May 13 (MExN): The Janata Dal (United) Nagaland has in outright termed the exclusion of the party from the NPF-led DAN ministry as a violation of pre-poll alliance commitments and warned that should anything happen to the DAN Alliance the JD (U) is free from any “responsibility.”
“Every now and then the DAN Alliance proclaims strong maintenance of pre-poll alliance and CMP (Common Minimum Program). However, the JD (U) insists that the exclusion of the JD (U) party from the DAN Ministry is a violation of pre-poll alliance” S Limatemjen, President of the Nagaland State JD(U) insisted in a press statement. The party warned that it would not have any liability on the ministry’s decline, in any case. “Should anything happen to the DAN Alliance government through the mishandling or misuse of the pre-poll Alliance or CMP before the Naga people, the JD(U) declare on this day to the Naga people that the JD (U) party is free from any responsibility or encumbrance of DAN Ministry’s acts of commission and omission” it warned.
The party also lambasted the BJP’s advocacy of the recently passed Anti-Conversion law in all BJP-ruled states in the country considering India is a secular country. Quoting the preamble of the Constitution of India that “the people of India solemnly resolved to constitute India into a Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic Republic” the JD (U) strongly reminded advocating party that the constitution should be upheld by all the citizens “more so by eminent persons like Shri. Rajnath Singh, president of the BJP.” The party reminded that infringement or violation of the preamble would even invite unrest, threatening the unity and integrity of India.
Meanwhile in the party’s State Executive meeting held May 9 at Dimapur, the JD (U) welcomed the successive extension of ceasefire between the Government of India and respective factions of the NSCN (IM) and the NSCN (K). However the party expressed unhappiness over the constant fighting and killings among the Naga fighters who imbibe the same ideology of Naga political freedom, Christianity and of “love one another, do not kill” but cause kill each other thereby negating the ceasefire. “It is high time that the Naga Underground comrades realize that they come to a common platform and (united) hammer out a realistic political settlement with the GOI” the party said. It also reminded the factions that maintenance of the ceasefire ground rules is most imperative for a peaceful Nagaland, which not only ceasefire-monitoring cells “but the state government should also diligently observe” and watch the violations of the rules. Overlooking this would mean creating of law and order problems, it added.
