Dimapur, November 25 (MExN): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) 5th Ghaspani-1 held its executive meeting at Chumukedima BJP office on November 25 with a host of party workers from all local committees – members and frontal Morcha officials - attending it. Addressing the party workers, senior BJP member K. James Vizo admitted that the party has an enormous task ahead and urged the members to work hard with determination.
Stating that “development is hardly visible and corruption is at its peak,” Vizo argued that it was only the BJP which can bring “reformation and transformation” to Nagaland. Also arguing that the BJP is a “secular party”, Vizo claimed that the party “believes in Gandhian socialism and democracy” and insisted that the party’s top agenda is to bring changes to Nagaland State through development. On accusations that BJP is “anti-Christian”, Vizo countered that such allegations were “baseless” propagated by rivals with ill motive to tarnish the image of BJP. “If BJP is anti-Christian, then how come Christian MPs were inducted in the Modi cabinet?” he posed.
“Earlier, our adversaries used to say that BJP is a vegetarian party, an upper class party or a Brahmin party etc, etc. Today, BJP is branded anti-Christians and anti-minority, these are all baseless allegations since they have no other talking points,” the senior BJP functionary stated.
Insisting that the BJP has concern for the people of Nagaland, Vizo cited then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee announcing a four lane package between Dimapur and Kohima in 2003. “Unfortunately, NDA lost and UPA government came to power and stayed for 10 years but never implemented it,” he stated. “Again in NDA-2 era, Prime Minister Narender Modi visited Nagaland in 2014 and today the works between Dimapur–Kohima is going on in full swing, this itself speaks volume the BJP has concerns for Nagaland,” he added.
