Exempt teachers from taxation, appeals ANSTA

Dimapur, March 18 (MExN): The All Nagaland School Teachers Association (ANSTA) has appealed to all concerned Naga political groups to exempt teachers from taxation. ANSTA President Ponchulo Wanth and General Secretary P. Vashum in a press release stated that ‘to shape and mould the destiny of future generation teachers need peaceful mind and healthy working environment. However, the tax collection in the form of deduction of certain percentage of total salary by 4/5 different factions becomes a regular feature which creates mental unrest in the teacher besides disturbing the congenial working atmosphere of the whole teaching community.’

Therefore, the Association appeals to all the concerned Naga political groups to acknowledge the contribution of teachers on development of human resources and exempt them from collection of taxes in the interest of education of the future generation.

Meanwhile, the Association expressed that ‘National worker and Nation builder should work hand in hand to build up the career of up-coming generations in the desired direction.’
