DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 10 (MExN): The Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) today urged the contractors of the four-lane road (Nagaland Sector) to expedite the work at the earliest.
A press note from the AYO expressed displeasure at the “inactive and irresponsible nature” of the contractors involved in the ongoing four-lane works of the NH-29 between Kohima and Dimapur.
“It is a fact that the durable period for construction of roads in Nagaland is about 6 (six) months only before the monsoon sets in. And the pace at which the works are carried out is too slow, which clearly shows the insincerity of the contractors as well as the workers in executing the work,” the AYO said. It further stated that the public has extended all possible support and cooperation towards the contractors for smooth execution of the work.
The AYO informed that the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) Executive Director had assured that the project would be completed by the end of 2019 and accordingly specific instructions have been given to the contractors on several occasions.
However, the AYO said it was impossible to fathom that work could be completed within the stipulated time if it continues at the current pace. It, therefore, demanded that the contracting agency immediately activate all its assets and manpower to deliver the work.
The AYO further cautioned the contractors against “giving lame excuses or pretext to evade from responsibility.”
