Exposure visit for livestock farmers

Wokha, October 28 (MExN): Chief Veterinary & AH Officer Wokha organized a block level exposure visit of livestock farmers to Guwahati from October 24 to 28 under the aegis of National Livestock Mission 2015-16. The group led by Dr. Mhonchan Shitiri visited All India Coordinated Research Project on Pig and Mega seed Farm Khanapara and interacted with Dr. D. Kalita principle scientist. They also visited Livestock production technology department of the college of Veterinary science and had firsthand information from Dr. Santosh, scientist on the various value additions on pork and chicken and the equipments used for the processing.  

The group then visited National Research Center on Pig, Rani and get to know the various breeds of Pigs reared by the center that are suitable and adaptable to North East region including Nagaland. After the farm visit the group attended a class room lecture on pig management practices and nutrition with special emphasis on non-conventional feeds by Dr. Keshab Barman principle scientist. As a pleasure trip the group visited Guwahati Zoo and botanical garden.
