Kohima, September 18 (MExN): The Tsiesema Village Youth Organisation (TVYO) today reported of “certain highway extortion is taking place between Peducha and Tsiesema jurisdiction (NH-2 By-Pass Road) and creating harassment and inconveniences to travelers, drivers, passengers and other public.” It also reported that a broad daylight extortion case occurred on September 13, 2018 where some miscreant extorted money from a truck driver.
In this concern, the TVYO in a press statement has condemned the act committed under its jurisdiction and appealed the authority concerned to punish the culprit under the law. The organisation has also warned that such act will not be tolerated in the near future.
Meanwhile, as per the village council and youth organisation resolutions, the TVYO has reaffirmed the restriction on hunting, fishing, jungle burning, collections of firewood and exploiting of forest flora & fauna. It has also prohibited disposing of garbage, waste material etc.
“Violating the restriction and prohibition is liable for the youth to take any course of action under the provision of the act and a penalty of Rs. 5,000/- or more will be imposed,” the organisation added.
