Mokokchung, October 24 (MExN): The Political Science Association of Fazl Ali College (FAC), Mokokchung organized the Annual UN Anniversary Lecture Series through a national webinar titled, ‘United Nations and the Global Security Challenges’ on October 23.
FAC Information and Publicity Cell in a press release stated that the resource person was Dr Biswajit Mohapatra from the Department of Political Science, North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong (NEHU). He highlighted that UN has applied peaceful preventive diplomacy and mediation in conflicts. However, today with the increase in non-traditional security threats such as climate change, human trafficking, migration, COVID-19 pandemic etc., UN needs urgent structural reforms to handle new problems and more realistic goals beyond the idealism of 1945.
A befitting conclusion to a relevant webinar was given by the speaker emphasizing on the positive role of all countries because if UN fails then it shows the failure of the countries of the world, he added.
The session was moderated by Dr Phyobenthung, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, FAC.
