Mokokchung, September 8 (MExN): Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung today celebrated its 57th Foundation Day cum Creative Arts Competition with MLA & Advisor to CM, Merentoshi R Jamir, as chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, the chief guest exhorted the students of the college to build self confidence to achieve their goals in life. He also encouraged the students to shed the “mentality” of pursuing government jobs after completing one’s educational career, adding that young educated people should go out to explore new ventures beyond the government sector.
He highlighted that about 65% of the state’s annual budget is spent on paying salaries to government employees and that a meagre 35% remain for developmental works. Activities in the creative arts competition included selection of Mr. And Ms. Fresher 2016, marathon race, debate, solo competition, one act play competition and extempore, essay writing and painting competitions.
