Mokokchung, May 8 (MExN): The Fazl Ali College (FAC) Mokokchung held conducted activities including career guidance and farewell programmes for faculty and students over the week.

According to updates from the College, the FAC fraternity organised a farewell programme for one of its senior faculty member Dr Abhijiy Borah on May 6, on account of his voluntary retirement.

Dr Abhijit Borah appeared NPSC interview in 1994, got appointed and joined Kohima Science in 1995 and while serving under the Higher Education Department, Government of Nagaland he was placed/promoted to Senior Lecturer in the year 2001, as a Reader in 2006, Associate Professor in 2009 and became HoD, Department of Physics with effect from February 2, 2021, the updates stated. He did his PhD from IITG in the year 2005, it said.

The farewell programme was attended by the teaching faculty, non-teaching staff and representatives from student community. 

Dr Temjenwabang, Principal FAC, shared his memories and experiences of doing research works and working together with Dr Abhijit Borah and said he was a dedicated and true gentleman who had served with utmost dedication for the development and uplift of the college and the society without expecting anything in return.

Dr Abhijit Borah in his speech acknowledged the college authority for organising the farewell programme and thanked all the speakers for their kind words. He encouraged the faculty members to be role models to the students and to mentor students diligently in order to leave significant and lasting positive impressions on them. He expressed that his contribution to the college had always been focused on the development and not on what he would gain from it. 

Career guidance & farewell for NCC cadets

Meanwhile, a  Career Guidance Programme for the BA/BSc 6th Semester Students on the theme ‘Following your Dreams’ was organised by the Career Guidance & Counselling Cell, FAC on May 7 at the College Auditorium, with Sentilong Ozukum, Civil Servant, Writer and an Alumnus as the Resource Person.

Dr J  Limainla Ao, Asst Prof, Department of History chaired the programme wherein Principal Dr Temjenwabang delivered the welcome address. The resource person, Sentilong Ozukum shared some of his concerns and purpose of visit, highlighting how we are all living in difficult times and that, it has become a necessity, that we get back to reality. Dwelling on the grim reality of unemployment and the inability of the Government to provide employment opportunities for all, the resource person shared stressed on the importance of knowing oneself, thereby making one’s life worth living and also the advantages of acquiring skills with market value, being self-supportive, emphasising on dignity of labour and preparing oneself for any kind of setbacks in life. 

In another programme, the FAC bid adieu to the senior outgoing cadets on May 7. A total of 20 outgoing senior cadets were given certificate of appreciation.
