FAC, SJU students ‘Give blood’ to ‘Give Life’

  The students of Fazl Ali College (FAC), Mokokchung and St Joseph University (SJU), Dimapur organised various activities related with the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day (NVBDD) on October 1. At FAC, it was organised by IMDH Blood Bank Mokokchung in collaboration with District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU) and Mokokchung Voluntary Blood Donors Association (MVBDA), stated a press release from college.   Charing the event, DPO, DAPCU Makshi said that the NVBDD was celebrated to remove the ignorance, fear and misconception of the general public towards blood donation and to share the need and significant of the blood in the life of a person.   MVBDA President Molo Jamir also motivated the students on voluntary blood donation and emphasize that it does not matter who is the blood donor or blood receiver. “A donor can be a receiver in the future as well as a receiver can be a healthy donor in the future, so we should donate blood without any exception,” he added.   The Medical Officer of the IMDH Blood Bank Dr Chubala highlighted that blood donation of the most significant contribution a person can make towards the society because it poses no threat to the metabolism of the human body and the donor can regenerate the blood within few days.   “We should not donate blood only to relatives and friends but to donate blood voluntarily to any one as it can save a life,” she added, according to the release.   At SJU, the Department of Social Work, in collaboration with District Hospital, Blood Bank (NSBTC), Dimapur observed the day with the “Happiness is Donating Blood.”   Over 400 students and faculties from various departments participated to at the event while 100 donors including students and faculties came forward to donate their blood, informd a press release from the university.   Gracing the occasion, Dr T Temsu, Senior Specialist and Blood Bank In-charge of District Hospital, Dimapur motivated the students to donate blood for the noblest services and applauded their contributions for the society at large. Dr Pramodini Magh, the Department’s head also emphasized on the objectives of bringing awareness and motivates the people about the importance of the voluntary blood donation.
