Peren, Jan 10 (MExN): A factional clash took place between the NSCN (IM) and its rival group NSCN (K) this morning at Old Chalkut Village under Peren district. According to sources, about 40 NSCN (IM) cadres attacked the rival camp at around 9:40 am.
The battle is said to have ensued for two hours. No case of casualties had been reported from either side at the time of filing this report.
Official sources said the firing ceased only after the NSCN (K) cadres fled into the jungles, and the IM cadres took hold of the rival’s camp. They also said that the villagers out of fear took flight to the jungles and nearby villages. Security forces from Police and Assam Rifles have been deployed in the area to take stock of the situation, it was informed.
