Kohima, August 9 (MExN): The bilingual feature film Fallen Rise, produced by Hillock Films in association with Golden Signature, was premiered at Hotel Vivor, Kohima, on August 8.
Advisor for School Education, Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, who attended the premiere as the dignitary, congratulated the Assam-based Hillock Films and Nagaland-based Golden Signature for collaborating on the film.
Reflecting on the title Fallen Rise, Yhome said the juxtaposition of the two words represented a deeper societal theme in Naga society, particularly its transition from traditional culture and the headhunting era to modernity through Christianity and education. He expressed hope that the film would go on to participate in national and international film forums and competitions.
Director Joon Khound said he had initially planned to make full-length films for international film festivals, but the high production costs led him to develop a story centred on ambitious students travelling from different places to cities for higher education.
He said Fallen Rise was shot across Nagaland and Assam and spoke about the difficulties and challenges encountered during production, which contributed to delays in its release.
Cast director Zapusazo Sirie said shooting for the film began in October 2022. He said the production team gained considerable experience of village and city life, as well as the culture, customs, traditions and religious practices of the communities they encountered.
Sirie also acknowledged the Mezoma Village Council and residents for allowing the film to be shot in the village and for participating in the production.
