
Peren, March 10 (MExN): As part of the International Women’s Day 2020 celebration, a three-day training programme for farm women was organized on the topic “Poultry production and management” by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Peren district at KVK Office, Jalukie from March 6 – 8.
During the technical session, Dr L Babita Devi, Head (i/c) delivered a lecture on the topic ‘Backyard poultry production.’ She further elaborated in detail about the importance of scientific management and use of improved germplasm of poultry for income generation.
She explained about the housing and feeding management of backyard system and made the farmers aware about the importance of deworming and vaccination in poultry rearing. A lecture on ‘Nutri-Thali’ highlighting the importance of balanced dish for maintaining health and well being was also given.
Z James Kikon (ACTO, Soil Sc) spoke on how to set up a ‘Nutri-Garden’ in the backyard by incorporating different plant varieties suitable for the region. The programme was graced by Atwa Meru, President, Jalukie Town Women Welfare Society (JTWWS), as special guest. Altogether 37 farm women including four Anganwadi workers from Mhainamtsi, Jalukie town, DB Colony and Keleilwa colony attended the programme, the statement added.
