Tseminyu, March 22 (MExN): A one day farmer scientist interaction programme was organized by ATMA Chunlikha and Tseminyu Block on March 20 at SDAO Office Tseminyu.
The resource persons were K. Michael, ACTO Plant Protection, Zhietie ACTO Soil conservation and Imtisenla ACTO Agronomy. The topics were based on their research findings. Pienyu spoke on importance of Trichogramma a biocontrol agent as an effective measure on controlling insect pests as it does not involve any chemical inputs. He also spoke on techniques involving utilization of Tricho cards and advised farmers to emphasize on IPM.
Imtisenla spoke on usage and formulations of Butachlor, a pre emergent herbicide for Rice plant. She also spoke on achievements of Abhishek Rice Variety by SRI Technique.
Zhiete spoke on soil health card which contains parameters for macro and micronutrients needed for crops for optimum yield and advised farmers to cultivate based of Soil health card. He also spoke on soil acidity and reducing acidity by addition of lime and also the effects of crops due to acidity in the soil. Gauzenlo spoke on feeding technique balanced nutrition for pig farming.
The interaction session raised various points related to effects of salt on paddy, usage of lime and Butachlor on fields and methods of protecting crops from insects, weeds and diseases. Where experts advised the farmers for using yellow sticky plate to attract insects, avoidance of using excessive chemicals pesticides and fertilizers leading to soil fertility thereby encouraging them to use organic fertilizers, pesticides like bone manure, wood ash. Experts also advised farmers to test soil acidity before applying lime and techniques involve in applying lime.
