
Chiephobozou, May 4 (MExN): Kisan Kalyan Karyashalas (Farmer’s Welfare Workshop) programme was conducted at Indoor Stadium, Chiephobozou on May 2. Chiephobozou block comprises of 28 villages. A total number of 220 farmers attended the programme. Seyievono, SDAO Chiephobozou highlighted the objective of the workshop which is mainly to encourage farmers to double their income through farming activities.
The special guest Butang Khiamniungan, Additional Director, Department of Agriculture spoke on how a farmer can double his income by adopting new technologies using improved seeds, improved tools and machineries. He encouraged the farmers to use quality seeds and practice farming activities not only for own consumption but also for commercial purpose and thereby increasing their source of income.
Award was given to Neilhouvou from Tsiese Basa for her work in ericulture and to Saliezhu for multi framing. Officials from agri and allied departments highlighted various schemes available for the farmers. Farmer scientist interaction programme was also conducted where Longmayanger Pongener, ACTO, KVK Kohima interacted with the participants. Farmers as well as awardees shared their success stories. Animal health camp was also done where around 50 dogs were vaccinated. Seeds and folders of various crops were distributed.
