
Phek, March 23 (MExN): National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) launched Farmers Club each in Khezhakeno, Leshemi, Lasumi, Zapami, and Lekromi villages, which is promoted by Chude Agri Allied Cooperative Society Ltd (CAACS) and supported by NSCB Pfutsero Branch.
The Farmers Clubs were launched in the presence of Imsunaro, District Development Manager (DDM), NABARD, Assistant Branch Manager, NSCB Pfutsero Branch, Farmers Club members, village members and CAACS members. A press release from Zelhoulo Koza, CAACS Secretary informed that during the launch at respective villages, Imsunaro, DDM, NABARD discussed the five principles of development through credit emphasizing on the importance of credit, timely repayment of loans, asset creation under agriculture and saving.
The Club members were also briefed on the roles and functions of the club, maintenance of books/ registers, regular meetings to be convened, preparation of yearly calendar of activities, NABARD’s assistance for three years, sustainability of club through creation of group corpus fund, and intervention by the club through economic and social activities in the village.
Meanwhile, Assistant Branch Manager, NSCB Pfutsero Branch Liudi Zeliang told the villagers that the primary objective of forming Farmers Club in a village is for the club to act as a bridge between the village and the bank. He shared on various facilities of the bank like KCC, GCC, life insurance policies like Atal Pension Yojna, PMJJY, PMJJBY etc. He also promised full cooperation and support to the Farmers Clubs. Reading material was distributed to the club members followed by interactive session.
