Farmers requested to move towards diversified agriculture

Medziphema, May 3 (MExN): With the target of achieving ‘Doubling of Farmers Income by 2022’ and the objective of creating awareness among farmers Agricultural Technology Management Agency, Dimapur Medziphema block conducted Kisan Kalyan Karyashalas (Farmers Welfare Workshop) at Medziphema Town Hall on May 2.  

Vikhweno Chale, ADC Medziphema, the special invitee challenged the farmers to upgrade their farming skills, produce good quality crops and meet the demand of the consumers and target for large scale production. She encouraged the farmers to move towards diversified agriculture and quoted that “our richness is in our resources”. Further, she requested the different line departments present on the occasion to choose the right beneficiary for different schemes from the government and stressed the need of having cold storage chains, marketing shed and food processing unit at the block level.  

Later, she presented cash award along with certificates for best progressive farmer from Seithekima C Village and best exhibition awards comprising of cash award were also presented during the workshop to farmers from Seithekima C, Ruzaphema and Molvom village respectively. Chale also inaugurated the exhibition stall.  

The keynote address and highlight of the programme was delivered by Z. James Kikon, ACTO, KVK Dimapur (ICAR).  

During the technical session there was farmer-scientist interaction where the farmers along with the officials from all agri and allied department actively took part in the session with inputs and suggestion. Vote of thanks was delivered by Keneisano Krose, ATM Medziphema Block, ATMA.
