ICAR KVK Peren conducted Kisan Mela and Farmers Scientist Interaction programme under TSP at Poilwa village, Peren district on March 15.

Peren, March 16 (MExN): For awareness to the farmers in the hill sector about the latest agricultural developments and technologies, ICAR KVK Peren conducted Kisan Mela and Farmers Scientist Interaction programme under TSP at Poilwa village, Peren district on March 15.
During the programme, a press release received here stated that the farmers were sensitized about management practices of seasonal vegetable cultivation, importance of soil and water quality in fish production and various integrated fish farming models by resource persons, Dr Patu K Zeliang, ACTO KVK Peren, Z James Kikon ACTO, KVK Peren and Dr Jyotish Burman, Scientist, Fisheries, ICAR, Nagaland Centre, Jharnapani.
Various posters on how to construct water harvesting structures in the hills, cultivation of king chillies, maize and vegetables, backyard poultry and piggery rearing were displayed for the benefit of the farming community.
In the group interaction, various problems of the farmers with remedies for management of their orchards, vegetable fields and wild animals affecting their fishery ponds like kingfisher, otter and jumping of fish which deplete their fish stock were discussed. Farmers also expressed their desire and help for setting up of hatchery unit of common carp in their village.
After the programme, agri inputs like knapsack sprayers, watering Cans, maize sheller and hermetic bags for storing seeds supplied by ICAR, IIAB Ranchi and silpaulin sheets, Irrigation pipes and vegetable seeds were distributed to the farmers.
The programme was attended by 63 farmers and officials from Poilwa, Poilwa Namci village.
