Farmers sensitized on backyard poultry tech

Peren, March 5 (MExN): KVK Peren, ICAR RC for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Jalukie conducted field day on backyard poultry (Vanaraja) cum farmer scientist interaction programme at ward number 9, Jalukie town, Peren on March 5.

 


The participants were sensitized about the backyard poultry technology with Vanaraja breed under the theme 'seeing is believing,’ at farmer’s field, said a press release from KVK Peren. Dr L Babita Devi, SS & Head (i/c) elaborated about the programme and importance of good quality germplasm for backyard system of rearing and their management. Z James Kikon, ACTO (Soil Sc), spoke about the concept of field day and its importance for horizontal spread of the technology and advised the farmers to take up poultry as entrepreneurship development. Dr Patu Khate ACTO (PBG) also delivered on maize cultivation for feed and fodder. Heideura, Chairman, ward number 9 acknowledged KVK Peren. He requested all the participants to sincerely work for the benefits/inputs provided by departments with a target for sustainability. The 82 participants including officials from Jalukie Colony, Mhainamtsi, Samzuiram, High School Colony and Midland Colony who attended the programme were taken to the demonstration unit to see the performance of Vanaraja in backyard condition.
