Tseminyu, April 6 (MExN): AH & Veterinary Services department Under Tseminyu sub-division, conducted one-day vaccination camp cum awareness programme at Sendenyu, Thongsunyu & Lotsuphen Villages on April 5.
Dr. Gwazenlo Tep, Veterinary Assistant surgeon (VAS), Tseminyu in a press release informed that the farmers were sensitized about potential Zoonotic disease that may be contracted from the animal sources viz., direct contact (bites, scratch, saliva etc.), victor borne or through food sources (meat, milk, egg etc.).
Further, they were also enlightened on the scope of livestock farming in our state and how we have to import meat from other states due to the shortage of locally produced meat. About 50 people participated in the training programme that included village council members, GBs, church leaders and progressive farmers as well as youth with interest in livestock farming ventures.
Altogether, 215 animals (SF=151, ARV=64) were vaccinated against swine fever in pigs and Rabies in dogs. Medicines like deworming, vitamins and minerals were also distributed free of cost to the farmers.
