Farmer’s skill training on silk technology conducted

Dimapur, September 8 (MExN): A one day farmers training programme on improved silk technology was held on September 6 jointly organised by Central Silk Board and Department of Sericulture, Government of Nagaland at Hotel Japfu, Kohima. The programme was chaired by Chandan Basera, Director of Sericulture with welcome to the dignitaries and farmer friends.  

CM Tsanglao, IAS, Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Department of Sericulture graced the occasion as chief guest. He expressed gratitude to the team of scientists from Central Silk Board for their constant support to the State department in overall development of Silk industry. Further, suggested and advised them to adopt with the new technologies and transfer into realities at field level for better production and productivity.  

Topics on different new adopted sericultural practices were disseminated to the farmers by Dr. B.K. Singh, Director, CMER&TI, G. Rajkhowa, Scientist -D and Dr. S.A Ahmed, Scientist-C from Central Silk Board, Lahdoigarh.  

A press note stated that a total of 38 stakeholders from neighbouring villages of the district along with departmental technical staff took part in the programme. The day concluded with vote of thanks pronounced by M. Meyase, D.S.O, Kohima.
