Farmers trained on value-added products at Changtongya village

Mokokchung, July 1 (MExN): ATMA Changtongya block organised a training camp on value addition on fruits and vegetables at Changtongya village on June 30.

A press release from BTM Temsutula Jamir stated that seasonal fruits and vegetables like litchi, peach and pineapple are found in abundance especially in and around Changtongya sub division; however, farmers face heavy losses due to the short shelf life of most of the fruits.

The training was conducted to convert these fruits and vegetables into value-added products which would benefit the farming community in the long run, the release stated.

Moaienla, a technical officer from KVK Yisemyong was the resource person. She underscored the benefit of value addition and its contribution towards financial upliftment of the family.

All the trainees actively participated during the preparation of various value-added products like jam, juice, pickle and sauce, it said. Altogether, 25 women farmers attended the training.
