Tuensang, August 6 (MExN): The Department of Agriculture, Tuensang organized one day farmers training on Production Technology of Pulses and Coarse Cereals at Tuensang Village C/khel on August 4.
Delivering the Keynote address District Agriculture Officer, L.Butang highlighted about the present scenario and market demands of pulses and coarse cereals. Besides he urged the farmers to be broad minded in practicing agriculture keeping in mind for capturing local market instead of growing for own consumption.
During the Technical session Menungchetba SMS spoke on the operational guidelines on implementation of Mission Organic Value Chain development for NER emphazing on selection of organic cluster, soil sample collection, inspection procedure under internal control system, etc.
Agri Officer, Chingmak spoke on Post Harvest Technology and storage pest management in regard to pest life cycle, damage symptom and various management and precautionary steps to be taken for pest control from harvesting, handling, storage etc.
Speaking on the topic on economic importance and scope of pluses production M. Chollen A.I appraise the farmers about the potentials of growing pluses crop in the region and urged the farmers for tapping the potentials for generating better income and net return.
L. Butang DAO speaking on the topic prospects and importance of coarse cereals cultivation briefing its economic importance, climate resilient food security and market demand The training programme was chaired by Menungchetba, SMS and welcome address was delivered by Longkhangba AO. The programme culminated with vote of thanks from Tonchingsangla AFA. Altogether 50 farmers along with department officials attended the training programme.
Kholar seeds were distributed to the farmers beneficiaries after the programme.
