Farmers’ training on soybean cultivation at Kohima conducted

Kohima: ATMA Kohima in collaboration with AICRP-Soybean NU-SASRD conducted one day Farmer’s training on Soybean cultivation on March 19 at DAO conference hall, Kohima.

Nosezole, DAO & PD (ATMA), Kohima on her keynote address stressed on the importance of soybean cultivation with the advent of a new programme in NFSM (Pulses). Dr. Tongpang Longkumer, Programme Officer AICRP-Soybean, NU-SASRD on his keynote address highlighted the important of soybean in our diet and also its commercial value and various value addition and processed items that can be done in soybean.

The importance of cultivating leguminous crops like soybean in maintaining soil fertility was also highlighted. Technical session on soybean cultivation technique was taken up by Dr. Engrala, Scientist, AICRP-soybean and plants protection measures for soybean by Mhasikhotuo Mere, AO-II DAO Office, Kohima.

 Problem related to disease and pest management were also discussed. The programme ended with an interaction session for the farmers. Rosalane Kithan, Dy. PD (ATMA), Kohima chaired the programme. Altogether 35 farmers from Chiephobozou block and Kohima block could attend the training programme.
