Farmers urged to emphasize on multiple farming sectors

Tseminyu, May 4 (MExN): A one day on programme on Kisan Kalyan Karyashalas (Farmers Welfare Workshop) under the theme ‘Doubling of Farmer’s Income’ was conducted by ATMA Chunlikha and Tseminyu Block at Tseminyu Town Hall on May 2.  

The programme was inaugurated by R. Khing MLA and advisor to animal husbandry and women resource development. Khing encouraged the farmers to emphasize more on multiple farming sectors in Horticulture, Bee Keeping, Aqua Culture, Animal Husbandry, Poultry and many more based on market and climatic suitability.  

Keynote address was delivered by Viwhetuo Thorie SDAO Tseminyu and Henry Zeliang Additional Director Department of Agriculture also spoke at the workshop.  

Farmer’s awards were given to Sesenlo kent for Mango and Litchi Cultivation, Nillo for Land development and Nguva Logwa for making of detergents. A total of 124 participants from 20 villages under Chunlikha and Tseminyu block were benefited from the workshop programme from various Agri and allied departments which includes Kisan Gosthi, Animal Health Camp, Sericulture Products, Agriculture Machinery and Bio-control Agents.  

During the technical session, departments from agri and allied - Horticulture, Sericulture, Land Resource, Veterinary and Agriculture shared their ongoing projects and schemes for the farmers followed by distribution of medicines for pets and Cattle, hybrid seeds, aglime, biofertilizers, micronutrients, Sericulture and agriculture products were also distributed to the farmers.  

The programme was jointly graced by Rahul Singh, Deputy Director Plant Protection under Ministry Of Agriculture Government of India as Central Observer an interaction session was made between farmers and Deputy Director where beneficiaries thanked Ministry of Agriculture for providing Financial, Technical, and Material assistance through various departmental sectors in Agriculture.  

Farmer scientist interaction was held where KVK ACTO Imtisenla shared on their research findings and achievements over various paddy and maize varieties. During interaction farmers raised concerns over the infestation of insects and pests on various crop plants.
