Father's Day celebrated in Nagaland

'Fathers are torchbearers of the family'

Kidima, June 19 (MExN): St Francis Xavier Catholic Church celebrated Father’s Day with Reverend Father Raymond D'Souza SJ, Director of Eden Gardens and Children's Home (pioneer of Jesuits Mission in North East India) as main celebrant. The feast of Body and Blood of Jesus Christ was also held alongside Father’s Day celebrations.

According to a press release, Fr Raymond D’Souza said that fathers are the torchbearers of the family who has been entrusted by God to take care of their children and lead them in right path. The priest urged the gathering to, in times of necessity, ask from the ‘Father, Son and Holy Spirit,’ and share their difficulties and problems. On the occasion, a special number was presented by Kidima Catholic Youth Association, while children and mothers delivered greetings. Prayers of the faithful were offered, Eucharist, felicitations followed by community meal were the highlights of the daylong celebration, it stated.

The Kuki Christian Church Jalukie Town under the aegis of Kuki Christian Khangthah (KCK) celebrated Father’s Day on June 19 in honour and appreciation of the roles played by fathers and father figures. Emphasis was laid on the role of a father in their children’s lives and the contribution of fathers to the society and their respective families were acknowledged.
