FATYCM questions centre on removal of 6 projects from NEC

Newmai News Network IMPHAL | JULY 9   Federation of All Tribal Youth Clubs, Manipur (FATYCM) has apprised Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh on the alleged “removal of key iconic projects and institutes from the North Eastern Council (NEC) and putting on hold awarded projects mid-way”.   In a representation to the Union Home Minister, FATYCM while lauding the Act East Policy undertaken by NDA government, it expressed that it is “perturbed to learn that six important iconic projects and institutes which are very much important for the region have been removed”.   According to the Manipur tribal body, the projects which were sanctioned by the NEC during the financial year of 2017-18 have been asked to be put on hold. “However, these projects have already been processed for implementation and many have already started or contracts awarded. If this matter is not re-considered, it could have serious implications in terms of cost, credibility and even legal issues and agitation,” the FATYCM said, adding, “We consider this move as an insult to the entire North-East States and their people”.   FATYCM also alleged that North East India was ignored and neglected for a long time now. “We have been marginalized economically, socially and politically for too long,” the tribal body further alleged.   According to FATYCM, the results of the neglect were expressed in terms of “revolt” in various forms.
