
Mokokchung, July 22 (MExN): Fazl Ali College organised a farewell programme at the college on July 21 to honour the retirement of one of its oldest serving faculty, Dr. DK Singh, Associate Professor, from the Department of Chemistry. In an emotional moment, colleagues of the retiring officer mentioned his many qualities, talents and his service to the college, according to a press release from Dr. Lanurenla, Media Cell, Fazl Ali College.
Dr. DK Singh joined the college on November 1, 1983. He recollected how, in that year, he had come to Nagaland as part of a trip to Tuli Paper Mill while working as a trainee chemist in a prestigious firm. He was totally mesmerized by the landscape of the place and charmed by the people of Nagaland, the release stated. When he was offered a job to work as a lecturer at Fazl Ali College, he jumped at the offer and since then he has never looked back. He expressed his happiness on having served the people of Mokokchung which he considered an honour and a privilege. He greatly appreciated the customs and traditions of the people and reiterated that these were memories never to be forgotten.
The President, Fazl Ali College Teachers’ Association, Watitoshi mentioned Dr. DK Singh’s contribution to the Association in various capacities as ANGCTA Representative, General Secretary, Auditor and Nominating Committee Member.
Fellow colleagues also commented on his calmness and sincerity, his humility and his concern for students. He was the epitome of gentleness and punctuality, a man who lived by example that it is normal to go beyond the call of duty to serve the student community, it was stated. His interests in life extended beyond Chemistry to Poetry, Literature and Music.
Arenla Longkumer, Principal, also congratulated the Associate Professor for having achieved his destination in good health. She expressed that DKji, as he was fondly called, was a real soul who knew his profession, for whom work was worship and who always extended a helping hand to the needy students.
The programme was chaired by Dr. Imtiwati Jamir, HoD, Physics Department and ended with a special prayer for Dr. DK Singh by Dr. Aotemshi, Department of Mathematics.
