Dimapur, November 1 (MExN): The band from Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung bagged the title of the Best Band of All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) Beat Contest which was held as part of the Collegiate Meet 2024. The beat contest unfolded with seven colleges from across Nagaland vying for one of the most prestigious titles in the state on October 31 evening.
The ANCSU Beat Contest is a biennial event and is conducted in order to encourage and promote the young talents from various colleges of Nagaland.
The Beat Contest was graced by Neibalie Rio, Special Officer to the Chief Minister of Nagaland. The judges included Clement Imsong, Vocalist of Lords of Rock Band, Yangkum Jinger, drummer of Incipit Band, Mankon Konyak, Lead Guitarist of the band EXI-CHICKEN HEAD and renowned Bassist, Jungshi Aier.
During the battle of the bands, the colleges belted out Bon Jovi’s popular number ‘You give love a bad name’ along with a number of their own choice. The title of the Best Band was awarded to Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung while the Runners Up title was bagged by Sazolie College, Kohima who also won the Best Vocals and Best Drummer titles. Patkai Christian College, Chümoukedima won the Best Bass Guitarist and Best Keyboardist titles while the titles for the Best Lead Guitarist and the Best Rhythm Guitarist went to Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung and Livingstone Foundation International College, Dimapur respectively.
The exhilarating event concluded with the summing up performance by DJ Rhon.
The third and the final day of the Knowledge Hub event of the Collegiate Meet was held in the morning on November 1 and was graced by Johnny Ruangmei, Joint CEO of the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority, Government of Nagaland. A talk on HIV & AIDS awareness was also delivered during the programme by Dr Hotoka Hesso, S.MO, Art Plus Centre, District Hospital Dimapur.
Imtisangla, COFU, IDAN also walked the audience through the various facets of Financial Literacy. Other highlights of the programme included the result of the Hackathon and prize distribution by Startup Nagaland and special song by students of Immanuel College, Dimapur, stated a press release issued by Information Desk, Livingstone Foundation International.
