Kohima, March 31 (MExN): The Forest & Biodiversity Management in the Himalaya (Nagaland) Project (FBMP), under the Kohima Forest Division, organised an exposure visit to Roing in Lower Dibang Valley, Arunachal Pradesh, from March 25 to 28.
According to a press release, members from Jotsoma, New Kigwema and Mitelephe Community Conserved Areas (CCAs) participated in the visit.
During the programme, participants interacted with members of the Elopa-Etugu Community Eco-Cultural Preserve (EECEP), a community-conserved area established in 2022 covering 76 sq km, including 20 sq km of wet tropical grassland. Resource persons shared insights into its management, biodiversity and community-led conservation efforts.
The release stated that camera trapping studies in the area have recorded over 40 species of mammals and more than 250 species of birds since 2018.
Participants also visited sites such as the Dibang riverbank and Borpathar, and interacted with community rangers involved in patrolling and conservation activities.
Altogether, 11 participants, including members from the CCAs and Kohima Forest Division, took part in the exposure visit.
The FBMP is co-financed by the Federal Republic of Germany through KfW, the release added.
