Charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act
DIMAPUR, JULY 12 (MExN): A Food Corporation of India (FCI) employee in Nagaland is facing investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for amassing wealth disproportionate to income. According to a PTI report, citing the FIR filed by the CBI, the accused– Bitoka Shohe, a Grade 1 (Accounts) and Cashier in the FCI Dimapur Divisional Office is alleged to have amassed wealth some 1,797.73 per cent above his known sources of income.
His official salary reportedly amounted to around Rs 40 lakh over the past six years. His wife had a total income of Rs 26.8 lakh in the same period.
Shohe also availed housing loans worth Rs 64.9 lakh from the State Bank of India, of which he has already repaid Rs 21.79 lakh.
As reported by the PTI, he has allegedly spent approximately Rs 23.5 lakh on construction materials for the house. The amount does not include costs for interiors, electrical and construction. He also bought an insurance policy with a premium of around Rs 93,000.
The CBI investigation further discovered stock investments Shohe made between April 2019 and May 2025. Now suspended, the CBI has charged him under the Prevention of Corruption Act, the PTI reported.
