DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 15 (DIPR): The Department of Food and Civil Supplies today issued a statement with regard to distribution of food grains under the National Food Security Act.
The department informed that the State Government implemented the NFSA, 2013 effective from July and August, 2016. It said there are 2, 85,226 ration cards under PHH and AAY covering 14, 05,956 beneficiaries by abolishing BPL and APL.
Besides, the department informed that the scale of issue of food grains is 5kg per person under PHH and 35kg per Ration card holder under AAY at the rate of Rs 3/- per Kg, which have been already uploaded in the Department portal. It stated that due to non- finalization of transportation costs, the State stockiest transports the food grains at their own expenses on due.
It further revealed that the coverage of beneficiaries has been determined as per 2011 census. The department opined that all genuine persons/households are covered and NFSA has been implemented successfully.
“All stake holders including Village Council, Town Council, GBs and officials assist the department for judicious and fair preparation of ration cards. Individuals/households concerned possessing more than one ration card created confusion and corruption at the grass root level, which the department is taking serious initiative and steps to check such multiple holding of cards,” it added.
Meanwhile, the department informed that in order to streamline fair distribution of food grains reaching out all genuine person/family, the department has instructed to furnish Aadhar. However, as of now only 26,700 have submitted Aadhar. For the reason stated, the department has not been able to speed up the Aadhar seeding.
The department has urged all beneficiaries to submit their Aadhar at the earliest and cooperate with the department “in the interest of judicious policy implementation.”
