
DIMAPUR, JULY 7 (MExN): The Office of the Assistant Director of Food and Civil Supplies, Mon has termed the claim made by NSCN (R) that it had seized public supply rice hoarded by businessmen and staff of the F&CS department as “totally false and baseless.”
A rejoinder issued by E Pangjei Konyak, superintendent, F&CS, Mon said on July 5, some NSCN (R) functionaries approached the supply department for certain quantities of rice to which the department staff explained the inability to fulfill their demand since the rice allocation was meant for the beneficiaries.
Subsequently, on July 6, the NSCN (R) functionaries with an order from their higher authority forcefully took away 210 bags of APL, which was to be distributed to beneficiaries through respective FPS from the rented godown located at Walo ward, Mon town, the rejoinder maintained.
Thereafter, it stated that the incident was immediately reported to the district administration and police, Mon and through their timely intervention, the bags of rice was retrieved from the NSCN (R) ceasefire camp on the same evening.
