Directs Fair Price Shops to remain open until eKYC process is completed

Dimapur, November 28 (MExN): The Department of Food & Civil Supplies (F&CS), Nagaland, today informed all beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) 2023 that it is mandatory to complete the eKYC process on or before December 31.

The directive, issued in line with the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, aims to ensure the removal of non-existent beneficiaries, including expired individuals and those with unauthenticated Aadhaar.

The eKYC process must be completed by December 31, failing which beneficiaries will lose their entitlements under the Public Distribution System (PDS).

A circular issued by Chubawati Chang, Director of Food & Civil Supplies (F&CS), further stated that beneficiaries can authenticate their biometric credentials using Aadhaar at any Fair Price Shop (FPS) in the state or country.

A list of beneficiaries who are yet to complete eKYC is available in the respective districts, it stated.

The circular also directed all FPS in Nagaland to remain open until the eKYC process is completed for all beneficiaries, including migrant workers or beneficiaries from other states.

To assist beneficiaries, including migrant workers, the Government of India has updated the PDS allowing eKYC to be completed at any FPS of their choice nationwide, it underscored.

The Ministry is closely monitoring the eKYC implementation process, and strict action will be taken against defaulting FPS that fail to comply with the directive, it added.

For further information or assistance, the F&CS Department advised beneficiaries to contact their respective FPS or district offices.

The eKYC process is mandatory for all beneficiaries under the Priority Household (PHH) and Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) schemes, it further noted.
