Female athletes from Nagaland bag Gold, Silver in fitness competition

By winning ‘WABBA Miss NorthEast India Fitness Model 2018,’ Rio Achumi, Lily Hasnu qualify for ‘Hercules Olympia 2018 Championship’

  Dimapur, June 26 (MExN): In a dream debut, two female athletes from Nagaland bagged Gold and Silver at the ‘WABBA Northeast India Miss Fitness Model 2018’ title competition, held in Guwahati on June 23.   [caption id="attachment_376110" align="alignnone" width="700"]Gold Medalist, Neithongunuo Rio Achumi[/caption]   Neithongunuo Rio Achumi from City Gym, Dimapur clinched the Gold medal while Lily Hasnu from Isaac National Gym, Dimapur bagged the Silver in the ‘first ever’ participation of female athletes from the state in a Northeast India, regional/inter-state bodybuilding and fitness sporting event.   [caption id="attachment_376111" align="alignnone" width="700"]Silver Medalist, Lily Hasnu[/caption]   “Both athletes have qualified for the Hercules Olympia 2018 Championship to be held in New Delhi in the month of September. This is an international event and platform for over 400+ athletes from 26+ countries, informed a press release from World Amateur Body Building Association- Northeast India (WABBA   Commenting on the achievements, Dronacharya Awardee and President WABBA India as well as coordinator for WABBA Asia,Bhupender Dhawan said, “It is very good to see Naga girls are participating and becoming new champions."     Nilakshi Choudhury, Executive Director WABBA India also said that it helps when the female athletes come out and compete because it promotes other women to come out and compete in the same platform.   She further expressed hope that more contestants from Nagaland will join the competition from next year.   The release further informed that with three athletes from Nagaland - 2 female and 1 male participated in the competition this year.
