Fernwood School wins statehood painting competition

The winners and participants of the painting competition on the theme ‘Nagaland-Past and Present’ at Directorate of Art & Culture office premises on February 27.

 
Kohima: The Directorate of Art & Culture organized a painting competition on the theme ‘Nagaland-Past and Present’ at the office premises on February 27.

Students from 14 different schools participated. Altogether five paintings have been awarded Rs. 5000 each and 27 paintings have been awarded certificates of appreciation. The selected works from this painting competition will be exhibited at various places in the state to mark the 50th anniversary year of Nagaland Statehood.

Award winners of the competition are: Neikehienuo Shunyű, Class X of Fernwood School, Kohima; Lhounyűtsu Suokhrie, Class XI of Mount Hermon Higher Secondary School, Kohima; Thangsoi, Class X of G. Rio School, Kohima; Neirűkrűnuo Mepfhűo, Class IX of  North Field School, Kohima; Kezhaselie, ClassXI of Chandmari Higher Secondary School, Kohima.

Delivering the introductory note on the competition, Vilalhou Noudi, the Art Executive announced that the competition is being organized to facilitate visual rendering of different views on the state and to build up a collection of paintings to commemorate the 50th Year of Nagaland Statehood. Vevo Chakhesang Director of Art & Culture inaugurated the competition and Lepden Jamir, (Governor’s Awardee in Art) was the judge of the competition.
