
Jalukie, April 27 (MExN): As part of the Fire Safety Week observed from April 14 to 20, a team of Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES), Peren unit conducted an awareness class and mock drill at Ibaung Thou Memorial School, Jalukie on April 27. The team was led by Sevotso Vero, SI.
The first session dwelt on various safety measures to be taken during an emergency, stated a press release from Mathew John, Headmaster of the school. The demonstration included making of skull bandage, arm bandage, knee bandage and various rescue methods like stretcher rescue, head top rescue etc.
In the second session, operation of four types of fire extinguishers – water, PCP, foam, and carbon dioxides were shown with the participation of students. The students were also taught how to extinguish four classes of fire: A class – wood, paper, cloth; B class – oil fire; C class – gas fire; D class – fire of metals and electric fire, the release added.
The session ended with a mock drill on house fire and the operation of fire engine and rescue operation by the whole team.
The release mentioned that this was the first such awareness class and mock drill conducted in the school.
