‘Festivity should strengthen different Naga hohos’

On the second day of the Moatsü festival organized by the Ao Senden, Y Patton, Deputy Chief Minister, graced the festival as the chief guest and Temjen Imna Along, Minister, Higher & Technical and Tribal affairs as the guest of honor at Imkongmeren sports Complex, Mokokchung. 

The festival was also attended by nine tribal hohos of Nagaland which the Ao Senden, President Chubawati remarked as a historical event.

The Deputy Chief Minister in his speech conveyed special Moatsü greetings and said that the festivity should strengthen the goals and friendship between the different Naga hohos. He said that the peaceful co-existence that is shown at such times should also be shown during the time of elections too. 

He also stressed on the point that the Naga political solution should be settled before the next general election and the tribal leaders and senior citizens should also press for the early settlement of the Naga Political issue.

In his speech, he also stated that Nagas should not waste resources on building morungs during festivity and also said that we should do away with the culture of killing wild animals and feeding it to chief guests.

Temjen Imna Along, who attended the festival as the guest of honor, mentioned that the Aos have become more inclusive, assertive and helpful while also saying that we should be more responsible and humbler in serving not only the Aos but the Naga community as a whole. 

He also urged the Aos to rethink their thoughts in giving 33%reservation to women so that women will also be given the platform in policy making and evolve together in the society. He said that we should be bold enough to speak out and create new heritage with respect and honor. 

In the same event, Moatsu greetings were conveyed by DC Mokokchung, presidents of Angami People’s Organization, Konyak Union and Chairman Lotha Hoho.

Results and prize distribution of various indigenous games and folk dance competition was also declared on the same event.

•    Ao nung totepba (Pole climbing): 1st -Alempang; 2nd -Mongsenbhai
•    Mezung Tsüktepba (Top spinning): 1st –Alongmen; 2nd Dilong
•    Arr Atsutepba (Tug of war): Winner- Alempang; Runner-up: Sungkomen
•    Folk Dance competition: 1st Ongpangkong; 2ndJapukong
