FGN alleges breach of covenant, appeals

Dimapur, October 18 (MExN): Pochury region functionaries of the FGN today appealed to the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) and joint working group of the three ‘political groups’ to intervene and dispense justice for a number of alleged violations the NSCN (IM) is said to be committing against FGN workers in  the Pochury areas.

The FGN of the region accused the NSCN (IM) of committing excesses and not maintaining the spirit of the ‘Covenant of Reconciliation’ signed by S Singnya, ‘kedaghe’ (‘president’) of the FGN, SS Khaplang, chairman of the GPRN/NSCN and Isak Chishi Swu, chairman of the NSCN/GPRN.

An elaborate statement from the “midan peyu” of the FGN’s Pochury region Victor M. Fithu listed out a number of incidents on several dates during which the NSCN (IM) was said to have intimidated NNC/FGN workers,   issued warnings to vacate areas; kidnapping FGN leaders and torturing them.  One of these alleged incidents included a September 7 incident where 11 “national workers” and their weapons were captured and then the captives tortured by the NSCN (IM).

“These actions happened by the NSCN-IM Pochury region within the Pochury area which is completely violation of the ‘Covenant of Reconciliation’ and highest level meets on 18th September 2010. Therefore, we the Pochury region NNC/FGN appeals to the FNR and JWG  of  the  three  national  political  groups to intervene and dispense true justice in the matter at the earliest.
